The
North East Rover Owners Club was formed in November 1971 by a small group
of Rover car and Land Rover enthusiasts under the umbrella of the Rover
Owners Association. This later became the Association of Rover Clubs which
NERO subscribes to annually so that club members are also individual
members of the ARC. The aims of the club are to further interest in
motoring, motorsport, caravanning and camping.
We promote competitions for
all Rover marques in accordance with the Motor
Sports Association. We also arrange caravan and camping rallies, tours,
social events and meetings. Membership is open to owners and enthusiasts
of vehicles of Rover manufacture. The catchment area for members stretches
from the Borders to North Yorkshire, quite a large area but in places not
a highly populated one. This keeps our membership around 120 to 150
members.
We hold monthly a meeting where members can socialise and discuss
ways of improving the club with members of the committee. Members meet at Elm Road Workingmen's Club, Shildon on the FIRST Friday
of the month. Further details and news of forthcoming events and trial
results are given in our club magazine, `Northern Exposure', which is
issued every four weeks approximately.
We regularly hold RTV trials and CCV trials as well as the occasional
treasure hunt, children's bike trials and gymkhanas. On most trial
weekends, a caravan and camping area is available.
We look forward to meeting you soon at future events.
